Tea Cake is a firm favourite in Ireland and the British Isles. In our home province, we enjoy it moist and buttered with a cup of Irish tea.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Raisins
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1/2 Lemon (Peeled)

How To Make

  1. Mix the flour and sugar together in a bowl, then add in the eggs and all the butter. Blend together thoroughly.
  2. Add the milk to the mixture gradually, continuously stirring it in.
  3. Put all the lemon peel and raisins, again, mixing it in well.
  4. Put the mix into a loaf pan and place in a preheated oven at a medium heat for anything up to half an hour, or until baked.
  5. Serve fresh from the oven and enjoy!
