Recipe Ingredients
- 4 1oz Chocolate Squares (Unsweetened)
- 2 cups Flour
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 2/3 cup White Sugar
- 2/3 cup Brown Demerera Sugar
- 1/2 cup Butter (Softened)
- 1/2 cup Soured Cream
- 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 2 Large Eggs

How To Make
- In a small saucepan over a medium heat, melt the chocolate squares making sure there are no lumps.
- In a separate bowl and using a sieve, sift together the baking soda, salt and flour.
- Cream the butter until light and fluffy.
- Add in the white sugar and the brown demerera sugar and mix thoroughly for a minute or two.
- Now add the eggs on at a time and beat them in.
- Pour in the vanilla extract and blend well.
- Then add in the soured cream and mix again.
- Pour in the melted chocolate from the saucepan and combine thoroughly.
- Put the batter into a pre-prepared cake tin.
- Place in a preheated oven at 350 F for about half an hour until baked.
- Let the Double Chocolate Cake cool.
- Now take about 3 oz of chocolate sqaures, butter, milk and melt them together in a saucepan over a medium heat.
- When blended, take off the heat and add some vanilla extract.
- When cooled, pour the chocolate mixture onto the top of the chocolate cake and smooth out.
- Serve with plenty of cream or ice cream.
