Our free Chocolate Nut Coffee Cake recipe is simply devine! It is full bodied, moist and packed with chocolatey flavour. The Chocolate Nut Coffee Cake is great for after a dinner party, and goes perfectly with freshly roasted coffee, or a full bodied tea.
Recipe Ingredients
- 3 cups Flour
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 1/2 cups Soured Cream
- 1 cup Butter
- 1 cup Assorted Nuts (Chopped)
- 3 tbl Cocoa Powder
- 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 3 Large Eggs
- 1 Orange Peel (Grated)

How To Make
- Take a mixing bowl and combine the cinnamon, assorteded nuts, cocoa powder and 1/3 cup of sugar. After mixing well, set aside for later.
- Mix the butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until blended well. You'll know when it is light and fluffy.
- Mix in the flour, eggs, soured cream, grated orange peel, vanilla extract, baking soda, sugar and baking powder.
- Put about half of the batter in a greased baking pan and sprinkle with the assorted nut mixture from before.
- Then pour on the rest of the batter.
- In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup of flour with a little sugar, butter and the cinnamon. Then sprinkle over the top.
- Place in a preheated oven at 350 F for about an hour, until baked.
- After lifting the Chocolate Nut Cake out, sprinkle with some sugar if you want.
- Serve with freshly whipped cream, coffees and teas.
