Boiled Cake is wonderfully moist and hearty. Perfect at any time of the day, especially when served in slices with Irish tea!

Recipe Ingredients

  • 4 cups Flour
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 cups Raisins
  • 2 cups Walnuts (Chopped)
  • 4 tsp Cocoa Powder
  • 2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Clove (Ground)

How To Make

  1. In a medium saucepan, mix together the sugar, water, salt, cocoa and spices. Bring the mixture to a boil, letting it boil for about 3 minutes.
  2. Take the saucepan off the heat and add in the nuts and vanilla.
  3. Mix in the baking soda and flour into the mixture. Stir thoroughly until the mixture firms up a little.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased loaf pan.
  5. Place in a preheated oven at 300 F for about an hour.
