Hot Cross Buns are devine when heated and served with a spread of butter and strawberry jam. Brilliant at any time of the day, these hearty Hot Cross Buns will go down a treat!

Recipe Ingredients

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 1 cup Dried Currants
  • 2/3 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Warm Water
  • 1/2 cup Dried Currants
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 Large Egg (Beaten)
  • 1 tbl Yeast
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg

How To Make

  1. Using a good sized bowl, mix together the currants, sugar, butter, eggs with a generous sprinkling of spices.
  2. Add in the flour to the mixture and knead into a dough.
  3. Divide the dough up into bun-sized pieces and set them onto a baking tray. Let them rise for about 45 minutes.
  4. Take a sharp knife and mark a cross on the top of each bun.
  5. Place in an oven at 450 F for about 20 minutes, or until browned off.
  6. Serve fresh and warm with plenty of butter!
